The Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) has issued Notification No. 551/2025 inviting online applications for the post of Fire & Rescue Officer (Trainee) in the Fire and Rescue Services Department.

Eligibility Conditions

  • Only male candidates are eligible

  • Age relaxation applicable for:
    • OBC
    • SC / ST
    • (As per Kerala PSC rules)

Educational Qualification

  • Pass in Plus Two (HSE) or equivalent
  • Diploma in Computer Application – desirable

Expected Cut-Off Marks for Kerala PSC Fireman Exam

The expected exam cut-off for the Fireman post is as follows:

  • General Category: 55-60 marks
  • SC/ST Category: 50-55 marks
  • OBC Category: 55-60 marks

Swimming Proficiency (Mandatory)

  • 50 metres swimming within 2 minutes
  • 2 minutes floating in deep water

Vision Requirements

  • Distance vision: 6/6 in both eyes
  • No colour blindness or eye defects
  • A medical certificate from the Civil Surgeon is required

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates must qualify in any 5 out of 8 events:

  • 100 m run – 14 sec
  • High jump – 132.2 cm
  • Long jump – 457.2 cm
  • Shot put – 7.26 kg
  • Cricket ball throw
  • Rope climbing
  • Pull-ups
  • 1500 m run – 5 min 44 sec

Training & Service Conditions

  • 6 months of institutional training
  • 6 months of field training
  • 7-year service bond mandatory
  • Probation period: 2 years

  • One-time registration is mandatory
  • No application fee
  • Applications once submitted cannot be edited
  • Last Date to Apply: 14 January 2026 (Wednesday), 12:00 midnight

Important Notes

  • Selection includes Physical Test and Medical Test
  • The rank list will be valid for one year
  • False claims will lead to disqualification and legal action
