NEET 2026 Exam Pattern

The NEET 2026 exam will have a total of 180 questions. These questions will be divided equally between Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects. Biology is further divided into Botany and Zoology. There is also a negative marking system where 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. The exam will test students based on the Class 11 and 12 NCERT syllabus.

For the marking:

Each correct answer provides a +4 mark.

NEET 2026 Counselling

NEET 2026 counselling refers to the process by which eligible candidates are seated in Indian dental and medical colleges. It takes place over several rounds by various authorities – MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) deals with All India Quota (AIQ) 15% seats, and respective state authorities deal with the other 85% state quota seats. Counselling generally starts soon after the announcement of NEET results. The candidates have to register online, fill in the colleges and courses of their choice, and freeze their preferences within the time frame. Seat allotment is made based on the NEET rank, category, availability of seats, and filled-in preferences. After a seat is allotted, the candidates are required to confirm their admission by reporting to the allotted college with the necessary documents.
