Uttarakhand launches India’s 1st yoga policy to become global wellness capital
▪ Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a Yoga Policy for Uttarakhand on the occasion of 11th International Yoga Day making it the first state in the country to frame such a policy.
▪ A subsidy of up to Rs 20 lakh would be given under this policy for establishing yoga and wellness centres besides a grant of up to Rs 10 lakh for research in the field of yoga, meditation and naturopathy.
▪ Government is determined to establish five new yoga hubs in Uttarakhand by 2030.
▪ By March 2026, the availability of yoga services will also be ensured in all AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers in the state,
▪ The Uttarakhand government will soon establish one Spiritual Economic Zone each in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions to promote ayurveda and naturopathy, yoga and spiritual tourism in the state.
▪ To establish two new cities in the mountainous areas of the state becoming the center of yoga, ayurveda and spirituality,
ICMR-NIIH launches India's first national rare blood donor registry
▪ In a first, the National Institute of Immunohaematology (NIIH) in Mumbai, operating under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), has launched a national registry for rare blood donors.
▪ This initiative aims to help patients with uncommon blood types, especially those with conditions like thalassemia and sickle cell disease, who often need repeated blood transfusions.
▪ The ICMR-NIIH is currently in discussions with the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) to link this rare donor registry with e-Raktakosh, the government’s existing blood availability portal.

Government to Launch ‘NAVYA’ – A Joint Pilot Initiative for Skilling Adolescent Girls Under Viksit Bharat@2047 Vision
▪ The central government is set to launch NAVYA – Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh.
▪ The initiative marks a joint pilot programme by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), aimed at empowering adolescent girls through targeted vocational training.
▪ NAVYA aims to empower adolescent girls aged 16 to 18 years, who have completed at least Class 10, by providing them with vocational training—particularly in non-traditional job roles— opening up pathways to participate in emerging sectors of the economy.
▪ As part of the initiative, both ministries will formalize a framework for institutional convergence, aligning efforts to deliver integrated skill training to adolescent girls.
▪ NAVYA will draw on the strengths of established national schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), to ensure the delivery of high-quality vocational education.
