Re-NEET 2026 OMR Challenge vs Answer Key Challenge: What’s the Difference?

Many students lose their processing fees simply because they select the wrong option on the dashboard. While both buttons look similar on your portal, they handle completely different types of grading errors. Knowing the difference ensures your objection actually gets reviewed by the right NTA department.

  1. OMR Response Challenge: Use this option if the scanned OMR response displayed by NTA does not correctly reflect the answers marked on the original OMR sheet. For example, if a candidate marked option (3) on the OMR sheet, but the scanned response displayed in the portal shows option (2) or indicates the question as unattempted.
  2. Answer Key Challenge: Use this option if the recorded response is correct, but you believe the official provisional answer key contains an incorrect answer for a particular question.

How to Challenge the Re-NEET 2026 OMR Sheet Online

If you notice any mismatch between the responses marked on your original OMR sheet and the responses displayed in the scanned OMR response sheet, follow the steps below to submit an official objection:

  1. Verify Your Test Booklet Code:

Verify the Test Booklet Code printed on your question paper and ensure the same code is selected on the portal.

  1. Select the Mismatched Question Numbers:

Go to the OMR challenge page. You will see a list of question numbers along with the responses recorded by the system. Select the specific questions for which you want to submit a challenge.

  1. Review the Discrepancy and Upload Supporting Documents (If Required):

Carefully compare the scanned OMR image with the responses displayed on the portal and describe the discrepancy clearly. If the portal permits or requires supporting documents, upload only evidence related to the OMR response discrepancy. Do not upload textbook pages or academic reference materials, as they are meant for answer key challenges, not OMR response challenges.

  1. Review and Lock Your Submission:

Carefully review all selected questions and uploaded documents before final submission, as changes may not be allowed after confirmation.

  1. Pay the Processing Fee:

Proceed to the payment screen. Pay the processing fee of ₹200 for each question challenged using a Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking. Download and save the payment confirmation receipt for future reference.

Re-NEET 2026 OMR Challenge Fee and Refund Policy

Challenge Fee

The National Testing Agency (NTA) charges ₹200 per question for raising an OMR response challenge. For example, if you challenge two questions, you will need to pay ₹400.

How the Refund Works

Every challenge submitted by candidates is reviewed by an independent panel of subject experts. If the panel determines that your challenge is valid and an error has been identified, the ₹200 fee for that particular question will be refunded.

If the expert panel rejects your challenge after review, the processing fee will not be refunded. The amount paid for that question is non-refundable.

Refund Credit Method

For approved challenges, the refund is processed automatically by NTA and credited to the same bank account, debit card, credit card, or payment method used during the online transaction.

The refund is processed according to NTA’s official refund procedure. No separate refund request is required from the candidate.
